Cheryl Rae Edvalson
“Our loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother”
Today is a celebration of an amazing woman. After a courageous and determined fight against pancreatic cancer, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Cheryl Rae Edvalson, passed peacefully through the veil on May 30, 2012.
She was born Cheryl Rae Peterson on January 2, 1956 to Elwood George and Myrna K. Peterson. At the end of summer, after graduating from Cyprus High School, she was sealed to her sweetheart, Douglas Eugene Edvalson, in the Manti Temple on September 6, 1974. Years later they were blessed to start a family. Family was always important to Cheryl and she made family time a priority. She believed eternal life is family life. She relished the chaos of Sunday dinners held every week with her family. It wasn’t important what the family was doing, or where we were, it was just important to be there and doing it together. She loved experiencing life through her grandchildren and loved to spoil them.
Cheryl was an active member in the LDS Church. She enjoyed her time serving in various capacities over the years, and strived to live a Christ-centered life. She will always be remembered for her generous and compassionate service. She strived to “Live Beyond Casual.”
She enjoyed cooking and reading recipe books and expressed her love through special meals and treats. Music was an intricate part of her life. She had the opportunity to sing in many choirs and groups, including a session of General Conference. This was a special way for her to share her sweet testimony of the gospel. She was our precious gift of wisdom, laughter, patience, gentle strength, and love. Throughout this battle with cancer, she remained happy and positive. She has cheerfully fought the good fight, kept the faith and came out victorious.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas, of West Valley; children: Ryan Edvalson of West Valley; Jennifer and Jason Hicks of Saratoga Springs; Trenton and Ashley Edvalson of West Haven; six grandchildren; parents Elwood and Myrna Peterson; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Gary David Edvalson.
As a family, and on behalf of Cheryl, we would like to thank all the doctors and medical staff at Utah Cancer Specialists and Intermountain Medical Center for your gentle touch, encouraging smiles and wonderful support. Your efforts and friendships have meant the world to us as we fought this cancer together as a family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at the Hunter Village Ward, 3450 South 6400 West. Viewings will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church, 10:30-11:15 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
The funeral was wonderful! My mother in law was such an amazing woman, she has touched so many lives. She had about 300 people come to the viewing and funeral. She really did know how to live out her testimony and was always so positive. So very blessed to have been able to call her mother and friend and hope that some day I can be like her.
Taegen every now and then will ask "Where is grandma?" I have been telling her with Heavenly Father and Jesus and she is at the age when they always ask Why? I just tell her because Heavenly Father and Jesus love her so much and missed her so they asked her to come back home. She was so cute, as we were getting out of the car to head into the church for the funeral she clapped her hands and said "yeah we get to see grandma!" I just love how much she loves her grandma, she will tell me every now and then that she misses her and I remind her that her grandma misses her to very much and loves her. I think it's great that she feels that way right now and to be honest I hope she will always feel that way because she is so young right now and I don't know if she will remember much but I hope that she will remember that her grandma made her feel so important. Cheryl really did dedicate her whole life to family! She truely was a saint and so much more, words cannot express nor explain who this woman really was, there is no word or phrase out there that is equally beautiful and wonderful as her. So to my mother and friend I love you so much and will never forget you and all that you do and your sweet testimony, til we meet again. xoxo

Awww... Peace
So I have been thinking a lot about the Gospel and trying to figure some things out. I just love the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! It teaches us how to live and love. I went to my husbands cousin's seminary graduation graduation last night and just loved it. One of the speakers said that Faith is a choice which is of course but I never looked at it that way just looked at it in the sense of trying to make it grow and another speaker said that no matter what we do with "our" time it is still in our Heavenly Father's time because we are his, he made us so be careful with what you do with "your" time and another speaker that I learned from last night reminded me of making sure to put our religious learning first then place our secular education after that, it's all about priority, what matters to you first? She also had said that her sophmore year had been particularly hard for her, she felt so alone and like she had no friends and decided to go to her Heavenly Father in prayer, she then opened up her scriptures and read about her Father in Heaven calling her friend, she said, " I knew that I was never alone after that, that I had a friend and that it was my Father in Heaven because he told me so!" I just love that our youth can be so amazing. Sometimes when I see some of the young kids they are not really acting as they should and I get a little discouraged about the future especially because my kids, is this really what the world has to offer?, but then I see and have awesome moments like yesterday and then I realize the importance in prayer, church, and making sure we go to the temple. We are taught that by going to the temple there will be angels looking over our loved one's, so if we really love our children and want them to be happy and have hope for them and their future then can we really afford not to go to the temple?
I have been struggling a little bit with my testimony and feelings lately and finally feel like I am doing great! Its nice when you know your testimony and wants are strong and of good things. I am very happy to be apart of something great! I once told a couple of friends this as we were talking about the gospel that I miss my Heavenly Father and asked them if they have ever felt that way? Their response was this, "I think that how can you miss someone you don't know?" I said, " but you can know of him, by reading your scriptures and learning of him, talking to him in prayer you can gain and have that friendship with him". I just want all of you to know that I love this Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I know that he lives and he is about my father's business, that he made it possible for me to repent of my sins so I can be an eternal family with the ones I love and so I can live with my Father in Heaven again. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God,and restored the true church on earth, that President Monson is a true Prophet of God living today for my day, to give counsel and direction to help over come the scary things that are out there today and to not be so persuaded by man and there wicked ways per Mosiah 3:19".....The natural man is an enemy to God....". But there is hope, we can over come this "Natural Man". I promise you will miss him because you know of him and what love he has for you if you just try to get to know our Father whom is in Heaven! These things that I say is not of secrets or things unknown but of sacred things that mean so very much to me and you can have this great and wonderful knowledge if you will ask per 1 Nephi 15:11 Do you not remember the things which the Lord hath said?-If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

So my brother and his wife came to visit from California. We had so much fun! We met our neice Maylea for the first time whom which is the same age as Brock. She is so sassy and cute, she kept telling us no and stop it.... hahaha, love little girls. We took some family pictures as there are new additions to the family.
The Grandkids
Our little family
"Where's Taegen?"... haha
Everyone who knows our son know's that he always stands and walks around with his hands held behind his back
It has taken me forever to get these up. I have to get some other one still from Trent's side of the family. Brock turned one on March 25th. He is so fun, teasing everyone and loves his big sister, daddy, mommy, and is his grandpa Doug's shadow. It's really cute he wont let his grandpa out of his sight, not even to go to the bathroom, and his grandpa is the only one that can sing to him to sleep. It's pretty great to the way he loves his sister, in the car they hold hands and he is always giving her hugs and kisses and just wants to do everything that she does. He is such a sweet good little boy I just can't get enough of him!

Freezer meals......
So I have lately been obsessing over making freezer meals and boy oh boy has it saved money and time, well kind of time cause I make the stuff all in one or two days depending on what I am making, but your dollar seems to go a long way, cause it makes enough for two dishes or more depending on what you make and for how many, I only have to make for two adults and two little kiddos who like have two bites of food and they are done but they usually have a lot of meals through out the day, hummm... maybe I should try that and I might be skinny like them? Monday's are when I usually do all the cooking.
Okay so here are some of my things I have been making, sorry no pictures though:
-pizza (all different types)
-homeade hotpocks for breakfast
-chicken cordon bleu cassorole
-chicken ranch lasagna
-chicken enchiladas
-cinnamon rolls (not cooked so you cook them when needed)
-banana bread (cooked)
So all of these have turned out really yummy but I need more recipes so pinterest here I come! ha ha I love that site, I have so many things on there and I tell you I am addicted but it has helped me be more organized, made me want to cook more, be more crafty, and more, this site is amazing!!!! If you want any of the recipes I use let me know and I can email it to you. Hope you enjoy and it helps you save money and time like it has me.

Brock is doing well..... Yeah!!!!
Brock had RSV and was in the hospital on March 11-14 and then came home but had to still be on oxygen but today was told he didn't have to have the oxygen any more which is so fantastic. The picture is of him playing in the closet at the hospital, he was so darn cute. They also let us take an oxygen tank in the wagon to go for a walk and Taegen was the only one who could get him to laugh, I love how much they love eachother!

LOOSE WEIGHT
Alright so I really want to loose weight and know how to do it but I need the help of getting started, wish I had a Jillan here or my very own personal trainer to make me get out of bed and tell me what to do and what not to do. I really need a BOSS!!!! So I will try my best to get started cause I would like to loose about 15lbs. by July. I have been having bad back pain and not for sure what from exactly but can guess that it's due to having kids and not working out like at all or eatting right with the right portion size too. So if you all can help me by giving advice or telling me what to do when you see me or anything at all in any way that would be awesome! Here we go and good luck to me...... ha ha.

So to update everyone on our family: Taegen is getting so big, she is still really tiny but she is getting taller will be three soon. :( man time goes fast. She loves to sing, dance, play out side with her guys which are her cousins Brecken, Kellen, Abi, Colten, Deni, and Brookelyn, wrestling with her daddy, anything arts and crafts, cars, reading, playing with Brock and giving him hugs and kisses, she loves it when her back gets tickled, wearing princess dresses and shoes which suits her cause she can be way sassy, watching her shows which is anything princess and just about any show on PBS kids and loves to learn. Taegen knows all her letters, colors and learning her numbers. She knows what amounts of 1, 2, and 3 are. She is finally knows the alphabet song and she tells me every now and then what a word starts with like flag, monster and stuff like that, she also knows how to write the letter T. When we go to the library on Thursdays they have the kids play with these sticks to help make music and she doesn't she always says mom letter X and T and V cause they let them have one in each hand and she just talks about letters... ha ha I love it, she is so stinkin smart!
Now with Brock he is 10 almost eleven months old. He is starting to walk and already knows how to snap his fingers. He loves to play with all the big kids and thinks he can do what they do. He loves to tease and is a mommas boy until his grandpa Doug is around then no one else exist. He loves food and has been off the charts in height and 95% in weight always since he has been born.... ha ha he is one big kiddo. He loves to snuggle which is always my favorite. His dad has already gotten him hooked on Dr.Pepper which I am not happy about but oh well at least Taegen only likes water and milk! He loves to be with the person who is in the kitchen, like I said he loves loves food, chocolate is one of the ways to win him over. He loves cars and any other boy toys. He is very ticklish on his back. When he gets mad he sticks his chest out and makes a whinning sound.
Trent is working and is so wonderful cause how not fun it is to leave your family and go to work :( booooo... we hate it when he has to go and he is going to go back to school not for sure when and for what but he will be going back, right now we just want to spend as much time with family as possible. We found out aobut a year ago that his mom has stage 4 cancer so as you can understand we want to be around her as much as possible. Trent is so wonderful and I am so very blessed to have him! He loves golfing and all sports really, he has so much patience and love and understanding, I really feel like he has been my best friend and teacher, I am a better person because of him and I know I could not have learned it from anyone else. He has such a wonderful testimony and spirit. He knows what it means to be a child of God and how to treat a daughter of God!
okay that is it for now and will be back to update more.....
